Alcoholic beverages may seem great for entertaining, but open storage can be dangerous if you have young children or frequent guests in the kitchen.

Storing alcohol in a liquor cabinet with an adequate lock ensures the security of your alcohol, and protects your children from accessing it accidentally. Some choose push-button combination or pad locks since they require a combination or key that only the installer would possess. Lock kits contain all you need to easily assemble a lock on your liquor cabinet.

Step 1

Purchase a cabinet lock kit, and read the instructions.

Step 2

Arrange the lock onto the cabinet as mentioned in the manufacturer's instructions.

Step 3

Use a screwdriver to screw the back piece of the lock mechanism onto the inside door of your cabinet with the screws for the lock kit. Make sure to research the screwdriver you will need before starting to install the lock.

Step 4

Screw in the front pieces of the lock onto the outer door of your cabinet.

Step 5

Set the lock and test it. Testing the lock is important to ensure proper functioning.
