How to Clean Silhouette Blinds

Silhouette blinds create an elegant window dressing that lends a seamless, tidy look to a room. The only snag you may encounter in the use of silhouette blinds is the cleaning process. The structure of the blinds is that there are two vertical panels of sheer material that are connected by horizontal slats. These slats are difficult to reach because you can't gain direct access to them. There is an easy and simple way to clean these blinds to keep them looking their best.

Silhouette blinds can accumulate dust.
  1. Fix the hose attachment to the end of the vacuum.
  2. Run the hose over the material casings on the front and back of the blinds.
  3. Use compressed air to release any loose dust and bugs. Blow the compressed air through the channels connecting the front and back pieces of casing material.
  4. For stains on the surface or inside the material casing, gently work water into the stain. Use your fingers to rub the stain until it disappears.
  5. Let your blinds dry fully.

Things You Will Need

  • Vacuum with hose attachment
  • Compressed air

Tip

  • Clean your blinds frequently to avoid stains setting in.

Warning

  • Use a low-pressure compressed air canister to avoid injuries.
