How to Trace a Phone Call for Free
Sometimes you miss a call from an unknown person, and don't feel the need to call back unless you're sure of the caller. Moreover, some people are just not comfortable with attending calls from unknown numbers on their caller ID. If the person doesn't leave a voice mail, you can find out his identity in a number of ways.
Open your Web browser, and go to a search engine like Google, Yahoo! or Bing. Type in the particular number in the search bar, and hit "Enter." This is the simplest method of tracing a phone number for free, and chances are that you will be able to get the desired results. The number might be available on a social networking website, forum, blog or an advertisement portal. Along with the number, you will most likely be able to find the owner's name as well as email address, and other important pieces of information.
Conduct a reverse number look-up. Some free websites include the White Pages, Any Who and Reverse Phone Check (see Resources). When you go to any of these websites, just type in the number including the area code and submit the query. These are free services that provide contact information of telephone number owners from their databases.
Call back the person or text if it is a cell phone number. You can politely request the person to reveal his identity.
