How to Determine the Size of a Refrigerator
Your refrigerator is a very important large household appliance. It's responsible for storing your perishable food items and ensuring they last for as long as possible. However, when purchasing a refrigerator, one major factor to consider besides performance is size. You can determine the size of the refrigerator you purchase by two factors: how much space you need and how much space you have.
Figure out the ideal size for your refrigerator. If there are only two people in your household, including yourself, then you need a refrigerator that's a minimum of ten cubic feet. For each additional person you add to the house, add one and a half cubic feet of space to the refrigerator.
Determine the space you have to install the refrigerator. Use a tape measure to measure the height, width and depth of the space.
Add half an inch to an inch to the height and width measurements you calculated. Then, subtract the amount of space the manufacturer recommends for ventilation. All refrigerator manufacturers recommend a specific ventilation space to help your refrigerator operate more efficiently.
Measure of all of the doorways in your home to ensure the delivery service can install your newly purchased refrigerator in your home.
