How to Locate a Junction Box on a Mobile Home

Kenrick Callwood

All mobile homes with electricity have junction boxes. Junction boxes, also known as circuit breakers, all you to control the flow of electricity into the mobile home. It's imperative that you turn off the electricity anytime you need to make a modification to the electric circuit. Mobile home junction boxes are located in different places depending on the make and model. However, you can usually find the junction box by following a few simple steps.

Mobile homes have junction boxes similar to those found in traditional homes.
  1. Look at the entrance conduit that allows the cable from the outside breaker box to pass under the mobile home. This is usually located at the base of the mobile home on the side where the outside breaker box is located.

  2. Use a flashlight to see where the cable enters the underside of the mobile home. The interior junction box is normally located directly above this point.

  3. Go inside and walk to the approximate area where you saw the cable enter the underside of the mobile home. Look for the junction box to be located 3 to 5 feet above the floor level.

  4. Search cabinet spaces, wall panels, and similar areas until you find the junction box. Junction boxes usually have metal doors which help protect them from dirt and moisture. The door may be marked with a sticker to identify it as the junction box.
