How to Get Super Glue Off an Oak Table

Super Glue is an adhesive substance that bonds quickly and firmly once it is exposed to air. If you work with Super Glue on top of an oak table, you may be horrified to find that some of the glue has adhered to the table. You don't have to throw the table away, however. You can remove Super Glue from oak surfaces but do so with the proper techniques to minimize the risk of damaging the finish of the table.

Acetone will dissolve Super Glue.
  1. Moisten a cotton swab with nail polish remover that contains acetone.
  2. Dab the cotton swab onto the Super Glue.
  3. Dab the area with a clean, dry cloth.
  4. Alternate between dabbing the table with acetone and dabbing it dry. Use as little acetone as possible and dry it as quickly as possible to avoid damaging the finish of the oak table.

Things You Will Need

  • Cotton swab
