How to Repair Jayco Siding

Hollan Johnson

Jayco siding is thin metal sheet siding that covers your Jayco recreational vehicle, or RV. If the siding is damaged, you can either repair or replace it. However, if it has more than a 1- to 2-inch crack in it, replacement is necessary, as water will start to leak into your RV from the crack and ruin the siding underneath. If your Jayco siding can be repaired, be sure to seal off the small bit of damage from the elements.

Repair

Step 1

Caulk over the small crack or cut in the siding with sealant caulk.

Step 2

Smooth the caulk flat to the Jayco siding with the trowel.

Step 3

Spray a light coat of paint over the caulk in a color that matches the Jayco siding.

Replace

Step 1

Peel off side molding from the Jayco siding with the flat-head screwdriver. Pry out any staples from the sides of the Jayco siding.

Step 2

Remove the damaged Jayco siding from the top down. Place the new siding on the RV, starting at the top and stapling it to the side of the RV. Tuck the next piece of siding into the piece of siding above it and staple it to the side of the RV, as well. Repeat the process until you reach the bottom piece of siding. Tuck the metal under the RV and staple it in place.

Step 3

Place a line of caulk on the molding and press it over the sides of the RV.
