In a small laundry room, a stackable washer and dryer unit makes an ideal space-saving solution. If room allows, consider a front-loading washer and dryer to incorporate a little folding area into the laundry room. For exceptionally small laundry rooms, a dual-purpose washer and dryer unit may be the only practical appliance choice.
Make the most of all wall space to hang and store items. Install a wire shelf with a sliding rod attached for dual-purpose hanging space. Hang hooks on the wall as a less-expensive but practical option for storing laundry bags or other items. A small rolling cart, designed specifically for laundry rooms, is a practical and economical solution for storing laundry products. A wall-mounted drying rack is another good option for drying and hanging small items.
Color and Lighting
Keep lighting bright in a small laundry room. To ensure that you are able to work efficiently, use the brightest wattage bulbs allowable. If possible, install recessed lighting. Avoid dark colors in a small laundry room. Instead, use bold color combinations like yellow and blue, or cream and green; be sure that the combinations coordinate with color schemes in adjoining rooms.
