How to Remove Coffee Stains From a Carafe

1. Add 2 tbsp. of dry dishwasher detergent to the carafe and fill it with hot water. Gently swish the mixture around in the pot and allow it to sit for 20 to 30 minutes. Pour out the detergent mixture and use a sponge or dishcloth to wipe remaining coffee residue off of your carafe's interior. Rinse the pot thoroughly before using.

2. Apply a coating of household baking soda to a damp sponge and scrub out the carafe. For stubborn stains, fill the carafe with water after scrubbing it, leaving the baking soda and water mixture to sit overnight. Baking soda is a natural scouring agent, and it helps to lift baked-on coffee stains without scratching or damaging your carafe. Rinse out the carafe by hand or run it through the dishwasher after scouring.

3. Pour 1/8 cup of bleach into the bottom of the carafe and fill the rest of the pot with warm water. Allow the bleach mixture to sit for 15 to 20 minutes, and then pour it out and wash the carafe with mild dish detergent. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry with a clean cloth.

4. Place two denture-cleaning tablets into the carafe and fill it with hot water. Allow the mixture to soak overnight before washing in warm, soapy water the next morning.
