The Maytag Gemini double oven allows you to get double the amount of baking done in the same amount of time. The unusual thing about this double oven is that it is not a wall unit. Instead, both ovens fit into the standard 30" spot intended for a regular oven. Even if you love your double oven, though, there are problems you may experience with it. What follows are some ways to troubleshoot those difficulties.
How to Troubleshoot a Maytag Gemini Double Oven
-
Check the oven rack positions if your food is not broiling properly or smokes excessively. The food may be too close to the element. The broil element may also not have been preheated. Check to see if aluminum foil was used incorrectly. Make sure to never use foil to line the broiler insert. Ensure that the oven door was not closed during broiling. The door should be open to the first Stop Position.
-
If the self-clean cycle will not work, check to make sure it is not set for a delayed start. If that is not the case, check to make sure the door is fully closed. Also, ensure that the oven temperature is below 400 degrees. You cannot program a self-clean if the oven temperature is too high.
-
Check to see if the oven interior is still hot if the oven door will not unlock after the self-clean cycle. You need to allow at least one hour for the oven to cool after the completion of the self-clean cycle. The door will be able to open when LOCK is no longer displayed.
-
Turn on the ventilation fan if there is a strong odor or light smoke when the oven is turned on. It will help to alleviate the situation. Remember that it is normal for a new range to smell when used the first few times. Starting a cleaning cycle will get rid of the odors more quickly. Also check to see if there is excessive food soiling on the bottom of the oven. If there is, use the self-clean cycle.
-
Make sure the oven vent has not been blocked if the baking results are not as you expected. Also check to make sure the range is level. Remember that temperatures may vary between your old oven and the new one. As your old oven aged, the temperature probably "drifted" and became hotter or colder.
Warning
Always check manufacturer recommendations before making any adjustments to your Maytag Gemini Double Oven.
