The Best Way to Clean a Toilet Bowl
Because of the waste that a toilet bowl continually handles, it should be cleaned regularly and properly. Following a routine cleaning schedule will prevent the need of tackling a huge cleaning job all at once.

Considerations
Clean toilets on a regular, scheduled basis--at least once a week. The bowl should also be cleaned on an as-needed basis, especially following times of high traffic. For example, an extra cleaning is a good idea both before and after visits from family or friends.
Routine Cleaning
Avoid using abrasive cleaners on the bowl. Spray cleaner on the bowl exterior and wipe with a sponge. Use a cleaner such as Lysol Bathroom Cleaner. Spray cleaner inside the bowl, on the walls above the water line and allow the cleaner to sit for approximately 10 minutes. Thoroughly scrub the inside of the bowl with a toilet brush, then flush the toilet.
Deeper Cleaning
Older toilet bowls, especially, may require additional cleaning to get rid of hard-to-remove stains. In these cases, using a cleaner along with a mildly abrasive pumice stone should remove be sufficient.
