How to Clean a Plastic Bedside Urinal
Bedside urinals are helpful among those who are not physically able to leave the bed when they need to use the restroom. Plastic is typically the material used to make these bedside urinals, as it makes the urinals inexpensive, easy to empty and clean, and disposable.
Things You Will Need
- Baking soda
- White vinegar
- Dish detergent
- Paper towels
In cleaning the urinal, the goal is to clear away any urine or residue, deodorize, and kill any bacteria that has developed.
-
Empty all urine from the container, and flush with hot water.
-
Pour a squirt of dish soap into the urinal, which will clean and break up residue.
-
Pour 1 cup of white vinegar into the urinal, which will deodorize and disinfect.
-
Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda into the urinal as well, which cleans and deodorizes.
-
Fill the container the rest of the way with hot water, and place the lid onto the urinal. Shake gently to break up all residue.
-
Let the solution sit for 30 minutes, then empty into the toilet and flush. Rinse the urinal with hot water once more.
-
Saturate a handful of paper towels with white vinegar, and wipe over the lip and cap of the urinal.
