How to Take Apart a Box Fan
Box fans are large fans housed in a square, usually plastic, container. Box fans are ideal for moving a large amount of air and can be placed on the floor, a table or in a window sill. Box fans easily collect dust and other debris.
As a result, box fans need to be regularly cleaned to in order to prevent them from distributing dust throughout the room when they are turned on. In order to clean box fans, knowing how to take one apart is essential.
Tip
Do not take the fan apart near a filled bathtub or other area with lots of water.

Prepare the box fan to be taken apart by turning off the fan and unplugging it from the outlet.

Unscrew each screw with the screwdriver. There should be about four to eight screws, depending on the brand and model of box fan. Put the screws in a safe place for reassembly.

Remove the front plastic screen from the box fan's body and put it off to the side.

Place the box fan on its back. Lift the blades away from the fan's hub. Move them to the side unless you are cleaning them as well.
