If your Delonghi dehumidifier is not working as normal, troubleshoot the device and attempt to fix it yourself.

Dehumidifier Will Not Turn On

First, check that the power cord is plugged into a working electrical outlet and that the power button is switched to "On." Next, check that the humidistat is set above "Minimum." On the "Minimum" setting, the humidifier will only work intermittently depending on the amount of humidity in the room. Raising the level of the humidistat will turn the dehumidifier on right away.

The water tank will keep the dehumidifier from running if it is full or if it is improperly placed in the machine. Check the water tank and empty it if needed. If the water tank is empty and the dehumidifier still will not run, pull the tank out of the machine and then reinsert it.

Dehumidifier Powers On But Does Not Reduce Humidity

Your Delonghi dehumidifier may power on as normal but not dehumidify the room. When this occurs, check the air filter to see if it is clogged. A clogged filter may restrict the airflow through the machine and keep it from dehumidifying the room. Clean the filter with a vacuum cleaner. If the filter is especially dirty, clean it with warm water and rinse it repeatedly. Let the filter dry and install it in the machine.

Another cause of the machine not dehumidifying a room is the defrosting device was activated. This will happen if ice starts to form on the compressor. Turn off the dehumidifier and let it sit for 30 minutes. To prevent this from occurring, raise the temperature of the room to hinder the formation of ice.

Finally, the dehumidifier may not work well in large rooms or if there are multiple sources of humidity in the room, such as boiling water. Move the dehumidifier to another room or remove sources of humidity for better dehumidifying results.

Dehumidifier Does Not Work for Three Minutes When Turned On

You may find your Delonghi dehumidifier does not start working for up to three minutes after powering it on. This is due to a security feature in the machine. The security feature is in place to prevent damage to the components of your dehumidifier. Wait at least three minutes to see if the machine turns on. If it does not turn on, plug the dehumidifier in a different electrical socket. You should contact a service technician if the machine does not turn on after using several different sockets.
