How to Get Burnt Butter Off of a Pan

Things You Will Need

  • Cream of tartar
  • Fabric Softener
  • Salt
  • Dish soap
  • Dish rag

Using Cream of Tartar

  1. Pour a quart of water into the burnt butter pan.

  2. Add 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar to the pan and mix it into the water.

  3. Place the pan on the stove and bring the water to a boil.

  4. Let the pan boil for 10 minutes and then dump the water down the drain.

  5. Clean the pan using a dish rag, soap and water. The burnt butter should now easily come off.

Using Fabric Softener

  1. Fill the burnt butter pan with water.

  2. Pour a little fabric softener into the pan.

  3. Allow the pan to soak for an hour.

  4. Clean the pan using a dish rag, soap and water. The burnt butter will now be much easier to remove.

Using Salt

  1. Dissolve a few tablespoons of salt in water and pour this salt water into your burnt butter pan.

  2. Let the pan soak overnight.

  3. Place the pan on the stove and bring the salt water to a boil.

  4. Discard the saltwater and clean the pan with a dish rag, soap and water. The burnt butter should come off easily.

  • Burnt butter, or food of any kind, can make for a tough cleaning job.
  • The burnt butter should now easily come off.
  • Fill the burnt butter pan with water.
  • Discard the saltwater and clean the pan with a dish rag, soap and water.
