How to Clean Urine off the Floor

Since urine is clear, it's tempting to simply use a wet paper towel and blot it away, but this isn't the most hygienic approach. Here's how to clean urine off the floor properly.

1. Use paper towels to mop up any puddles of urine. Dispose in a trash can rather than the toilet to avoid flooding.

2. Mix one teaspoon of bleach with two cups of water and place into a spray bottle. Thoroughly spray all areas of the toilet and bathroom floor affected by the urine accident. Wipe down with paper towels.

3. Dispose of any remaining bleach/water solution after you've cleaned up the urine. This homemade cleaner only works for 24 hours after it's been mixed so unless you anticipate another accident within the day, you won't be able to use leftovers.

4. Use disinfecting and sanitizing wipes rather than the bleach solution if you prefer. Depending on the volume of the urine, this might be an easier, faster way to clean.

5. Wash your hands with warm water and soap, keeping them under water for at least 30 seconds and scrubbing below the nails. Now that you've eliminated germs from the toilet area, you want to make sure you don't pass them through the rest of your house with dirty hands.
