How to Care for Vinyl Plank Flooring
Vinyl plank flooring is a modern flooring type that provides an affordable alternative to authentic wood flooring. The vinyl planks have a printed design that almost exactly replicates the look of natural wood.
The planks are finished with a protective gloss layer that prevents liquid spills and other elements from penetrating the flooring. To properly care for the vinyl planks, you must clean regularly to get rid of small stones, food crumbs, dirt and other buildup that comes into contact with the flooring.
-
Sweep your vinyl planks every few days with either a dust mop or broom.
-
Fill a bucket with 1 gallon water and 1/2 cup white vinegar. Add about 1 tsp. dish soap if you have kitchen flooring or similar areas that are covered in heavier buildup.
-
Soak a mop in the cleaning solution, squeeze out the mop and wipe it across the vinyl planks. Let the flooring air dry.
-
Place area rugs around high-traffic areas of the room when possible, as well as floor mats at entryways.
