How to Troubleshoot a Maytag SkyBox
The Maytag SkyBox is a refrigerator unit that dispenses canned and bottled beverages, similar to a vending machine. After loading up the cans or bottles into the machine, you press a button and a beverage is delivered to you. This convenient machine works well under most conditions, but may occasionally run into problems, many of which you can fix. Troubleshoot your SkyBox when it does not work normally.
Low Indicator Light on Though Unit Is Full
Step 1
Open the door of the SkyBox to access the storage bins. When the low indicator light is on and the SkyBox is full, the unit was likely loaded incorrectly.
Step 2
Ensure that all of the cans or bottles are pushed fully to the back of the bin. If the beverages are not pushed back all of the way, they may get caught on the bins and the unit will give a false low-beverage indicator.
Step 3
Check that each bin is filled only with bottles or cans. Mixing the containers within a bin will result in vending errors and the false low beverage indicator light. Move the cans and bottles as needed.
Low Indicator Light Flashes Rapidly
Step 1
Open the door of the refrigerator unit. The rapidly blinking lights are caused by a jam in the machine. Jams are often located in the bins or the dispensing area.
Step 2
Adjust or remove the can or bottle that is causing the jam. The inside of the SkyBox is an open space, which makes it easy to spot the jam quickly.
Step 3
Ensure that the bins are loaded correctly. The tops of the cans or bottles should face out, and the bottom of the containers should touch the back of the bin. In addition, make sure cans and bottles are not loaded together in any of the bins, and move them as needed.
Step 4
Close the door of the SkyBox. The indicator lights will stop blinking.
No Beverages Are Dispensed
Step 1
Check that the SkyBox is loaded with beverages by opening the dispenser door. Fill the machine as needed.
Step 2
Disable the child safety lock on the bin that is not dispensing by pressing the switch to the right of the bin to the up position. The child safety lock is used to keep children from gaining access to the beverages within the machine.
Step 3
Clear any jams within the machine. Refer to Section 2 for information on clearing jams within the SkyBox.
SkyBox Not Cooling Beverages
Step 1
Check that the power cord is fully pressed into a working electrical outlet. You may need to check that the outlet is working by plugging in another device.
Step 2
Open the SkyBox door and turn the temperature control dial on the upper left part of the unit all of the way to the right.
Step 3
Close the door fully. If the door is not closed all of the way, the beverages within the unit may not chill.
