How to Get Tea Stains Off of a Tupperware Container
Tea stains are common for those who drink enough of it. Even the toughest of surfaces stain, and plastic is no exception. If taken care of properly plastic containers can last for many years, and while tea stains won’t damage the plastic containers, it does take away from the appearance of it.
Things You Will Need
- Lemon
- Baking soda
- Table salt
- Clean cloth or sponge
- Lemonade
- Powdered dish detergent
Removing tea stains can be challenging if you aren’t sure how to approach it; armed with the right information and few materials, tea stains can be removed with minimal effort.

Slice a lemon in half and rub it all over the stained area. Set the plastic container outside in the sunshine and leave it there until the sun goes down. Repeat as needed until the stain is gone.

Mix baking soda and table salt in equal parts and add enough clean water to make it into a thick paste. Scrub the stained area with a clean cloth or sponge dipped into the paste until the stain is gone and rinse well.

Fill the plastic container with lemonade and allow it to sit for 10 to15 minutes before washing it with warm soapy water.

Dump two tablespoons of powdered dish detergent into the plastic container and pour in enough hot water to cover the stain. Allow the container to soak for at least 15 minutes before rinsing it out with clean water.
