How to Get Pen Out of Khaki

Kaye Wagner

Always pay attention to whether or not your pens are capped before putting them into your pant's pocket. This will help prevent marks on khaki pants. Also, always check your pockets for pens before putting pants into a washing machine. Leaving pens in the machine can cause them to mark up your pants and clothes. Remove ink marks as soon as possible to make sure they don't set into the fabric.

Cap pens when not in use.
  1. Soak a clean cloth in rubbing alcohol.

  2. Dab the ink stain with the rubbing alcohol until you remove the stain or lighten it as much as possible. Work from the edges of the stain as possible and don't rub it as it could spread the mark or work it further into the khaki material.

  3. Rub the stain with liquid laundry detergent until the stain and fabric around it is completely coated. Let it sit overnight.

  4. Rinse the khakis in the morning.

  5. Dab fingernail polish remover onto the stain if it is still visible. Work until the stain is gone.

  6. Launder the khakis as normal.
