The Types of Fasteners for Cubicles & Fabric Walls
Whether you're looking for a short- or a long-term solution for fastening objects to your cubicle or fabric walls, there's a type of fastener out there that will suit your needs. Fasteners for cubicle walls come in a variety of materials, styles, colors and sizes, and you can use them in a number of ways.
Velcro
If you're looking for versatility in your cubicle wall fastener, try Velcro (generically known as a hook-and-loop closure). You can purchase Velcro that adheres to the object you want to attach and holds it to the wall, or you can pick up two-piece Velcro, which will attach to both the object and the wall and interlock to keep your object on the wall. Unlike two-piece Velcro, single-piece Velcro allows you to move an object around a wall over and over again. Before you purchase Velcro to hang your object, make sure the strength of the Velcro is sufficient to hold the object you want. Typically, the larger and deeper the loops on the Velcro, the stronger it is. You can purchase Velcro in sheets, rolls or precut pieces.
Fabric Grip
If you want something to stay on your fabric wall for a long time, use fabric grip. Fabric grip is a type of adhesive tape for fabric that is similar to standard adhesive mounting squares. Fabric grip is typically white and will hold almost anything to fabric, but if you decide to go with the adhesive option, be aware that once you use fabric grip, you can't use it again, even after you remove the item from the wall.
Clips and Hooks
If you need a cubicle wall fastener that will help you get organized and hold items to the wall, invest in some fabric-wall clips and hooks. Similar to standard push pins, fabric clips and hooks feature two long pins that push into the wall to hold the clip or hook in place, but instead of a flat pin head, there's a clip or hook on the other end. Fabric or cubicle wall clips and hooks come in a variety of colors and sizes. You can purchase them at most office supply stores.
Push Pins
If you want to keep it simple, use push pins to attach items to your cubicle or fabric walls. Push pins will hold most light items, such as cartoons or written reminders. You can pick up a box of standard push pins with clear or colored pinheads from most retail and office supply stores, but if you're looking to jazz up your cubicle walls, you can purchase unique character or decorative push pins from a number of arts and crafts stores and specialty boutiques.
