Using a few products to clean and apply a stain, will enable you to alter your marble in order to accent a room, change your look or simply cover up an unsightly stain or imperfection.

Remove any debris from the marble. If there is wax or built up food, use a wooden edge to gently scrape the debris off. Do not use metal bristles or steel wool, as they will scratch your marble and scour your finish.

Use vinegar and water to clear away any rust or small stains in order to create a congruent color and finish.

Take your wood stain in whatever color you choose and add to water. Try using a weaker solution first and repeat if color is unacceptable. Place the finish over the counter in an even coat.

Leave the stain on overnight. In the morning remove the stains from the marble, taking care not to use anything that can scratch the marble. Observe the color.

Repeat if necessary. The finish of the marble will allow permeability, but it might take time. If the color doesn't finish, contact a specialist who will refinish your marble and change the color for you.

Buff the counter with a car or counter wax after the color is cured to increase the luster of the top. This should make the color more vibrant.
