How to Remove Odors With Household Ammonia
Ammonia is a typical household cleaning agent, and is also found naturally in such substances as urine. It is a base liquid and normally not used for odor control, but household ammonia can be used for removing and neutralizing odors in the home. Be careful whenever using ammonia and avoid strong concentrations.
Inhaling this harmful chemical can cause serious respiratory illnesses.
Things You Will Need
- Household ammonia
- Spray bottle
- Cloth

Never inhale or ingest ammonia because of the risk of chemical burns, poisoning, and possibly death.

Mix 2 tbsp. household ammonia in a spray bottle with 3 cups of water.

Mist the ammonia mixture on non-porous surfaces. Perform spot tests on all non-porous surfaces in inconspicuous places to be sure that there will be no ill effects.

Wait 10 minutes and wipe down all surfaces covered with the ammonia spray with a damp cloth or rag.

Repeat daily until odor is neutralized.
