Homemade Granite Polish
Granite is used for several applications throughout homes, from kitchen and bathroom counter tops to flooring and wall accents. After time and continued use, a once-lustrous slab of granite will begin to look dull. The shine on granite counter tops can be restored with a homemade granite polish.
The polish can be made with a few ingredients found your pantry or at a local grocery store.
Things You Will Need
- Mild all-purpose cleaner
- Soft cloths
- 2 cups water
- 2 tbsp. liquid dish soap
- 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- Plastic spray bottle
-
Clean the surface of the granite with a mild, all-purpose household cleaner, such as Simple Green or Formula 409. Wipe away the cleaner with a soft cloth.
-
Pour 2 cups water, 2 tbsp. liquid dish soap, 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol, and 1/4 cup baking soda into a plastic spray bottle.
-
Replace the bottle’s top and shake it vigorously to mix all of the ingredients.
-
Spray the surface of the granite with the homemade polish.
-
Rub the polish into the granite with a soft cloth. Use a circular motion to work the polish into the granite more effectively.
