How to Replace a Door Seal on the Kenmore HE2 Plus Washer
The Kenmore HE2 Plus line of automatic washing machines are high efficiency appliances manufactured for residential or industrial use. The door seal connects to the front of the washer tub to create a water-tight connection between the tub and the door. If the door seal is broken or damaged, the washer may leak while it is running. Replace the faulty door seal with a new component to keep your Kenmore washing machine running correctly.
Step 1
Unplug the power cord. Turn off the hot and cold water faucets connected to the water inlet hoses.
Step 2
Remove the three screws along the back of the top panel. Lift the top panel off the Kenmore washer.
Step 3
Disconnect the ribbon cable from the back of the control panel. Slide the detergent drawer out in the front of the washer. Depress the release tab inside the drawer to fully remove it.
Step 4
Remove the screw next to the drawer opening. Lift the control panel off the cabinet.
Step 5
Unplug the door switch electrical connector from its harness. Remove the three screws along the base of the toe panel. Lift the toe panel off.
Step 6
Remove the four screws holding the front panel in place. Lift the front panel off the Kenmore washer.
Step 7
Pull the door seal off the water inlet hose. Loosen the screw on the door seal retainer clamp. Lift the clamp off the seal.
Step 8
Pull the door seal off the front of the washer tub.
Step 9
Position the new door seal onto the tub. Reverse the previous steps to reassemble the Kenmore HE2 washer.
