Removing the Drum of an LG Tromm Front Load Washer
Loud noises within a LG Tromm front load washer or problems with clothes not spinning properly in the unit are indications of a broken drum. The drum of your washer is the metallic basket within the tub of the unit where you place your clothes. You can manually remove the entire drum out of the unit once you've removed the top and front panels and control panel from the washer. You can replace the old drum with a new drum part, if necessary.
Step 1
Move your LG Tromm front load washer away from the wall, then disconnect the power supply.
Step 2
Use a screwdriver to remove the screws from the top panel. Lift the top panel up, then set it aside.
Step 3
Lift the control panel up and disconnect the wire leading to panel. Remove the screws connecting the top panel to the unit.
Step 4
Lift up the control panel, then remove it from the unit. Remove the four screws from the front panel and remove the front panel.
Step 5
Remove the screws from the filter cover, then insert a flat-head screwdriver in the cover to pry it off. Set the cover aside.
Step 6
Open the door and lean the unit forward. Disconnect the door switch and lift the door off the unit.
Step 7
Move the spring retaining clip attached to the drum and the tub, then carefully lift the drum from the tub.
Step 8
Place the old drum or new drum part back into the tub and move the spring retaining clip back into place.
Step 9
Place the door back on to the unit and reconnect the door switch. Close the door.
Step 10
Place the filter cover back on and reinsert the cover screws. Place the control panel back onto unit and reinsert the screws.
Step 11
Reconnect the wires to the control panel and place the cover back down. Place the top panel back on and reinsert the screws.
Step 12
Plug the power supply back to the wall outlet and move your washer back into place.
