How to Install an American Standard Faucet

There is no need to call a plumber to install a faucet. Installing an American Standard faucet can be done yourself with simple tools. By installing the faucet yourself, you save money. American Standard offers a variety of faucets to suit every style. Installation of each faucet is virtually the same.

Installing an American Standard faucet can be done yourself.
  1. Insert the faucet into the holes on the sink.

  2. Fasten the lock-nuts onto the sink from inside the cabinet. Tighten the lock-nuts with your hands.

  3. Install the tailpiece onto the drain body by threading the tailpiece in a clockwise direction.

  4. Remove the flange and the foam gasket from the drain body assembly by turning them counter-clockwise with your hands.

  5. Insert the lock-nut onto the drain body assembly by turning the lock-nut clockwise with your hand.

  6. Insert the drain body into the drain hole of the sink from inside the cabinet. Install the foam gasket from the top side of the sink onto the drain assembly.

  7. Install the flange from the top side of the sink on top of the foam gasket on the drain body by turning it in a clockwise direction.

  8. Tighten the drain assembly lock-nut from inside the cabinet using an adjustable wrench.

  9. Attach the cable connector to the drain pipe by rotating the cable connector in a clockwise direction. Tighten with an adjustable wrench.

  10. Connect the water supply lines to the underneath side of the faucet and tighten them with an adjustable wrench. Connect the opposite side to the stationary plumbing in your home.
