How to Open a KitchenAid Food Processor
KitchenAid food processors feature a variety of cutting blades, including a multipurpose blade that is located at the base of the appliance's work bowl, and several disc blades to chop, slice or shred food. While opening the food process after use may sound simple, it is important to follow the correct procedure and avoid exerting excessive physical force, which may crack or break the plastic components.
-
Press the off button located on the front of the KitchenAid food processor to turn the appliance off. Unplug the food processor from the electrical outlet. These safety measures will prevent you from accidentally switching the food processor on while it is open which could cause serious injury.
-
Turn the cover of the KitchenAid food processor counterclockwise to unlock it. You will know that the cover is unlocked when you cannot easily turn the cover any further. The cover is the part of the food processor with the feed tube which is where you insert food into the processor.
-
Lift the cover straight up to remove it from the KitchenAid food processor. If you were using a disc blade in the food processor it will now be exposed.
-
Place two fingers underneath the disc blade on other side of the blade and gently lift it up and out of the food processor. The outer edges of the blade are not sharp so you can perform this action without cutting yourself. The edges of the cutouts on the inner part of the blade are sharp so avoid touching them during removal.
