Troubleshooting a Human Touch Massage Chair 7450

The Human Touch company is a leading supplier of massage chairs in the United States and has been in business for more than 30 years. The Human Touch HT-7450 Zero Gravity Massage chair allows you to feel weightless as the chair adjusts to your body. You experience a feeling of floating while the mechanisms in the chair replicate a massage therapist, giving you a massage from head to toe. As with any mechanical device, problems will undoubtedly arise over the life of the chair. Use these troubleshooting tips to help you locate the problem. Then when you can take the chair to an authorized dealer for repair, you can tell a professional where you think the problem lies.

No Movement

A Human Touch massage chair replicates the feel of a human massage therapist.
  1. Turn off the chair's power switch. Check the power cord for damage and that it is properly installed. Make certain that the wall outlet is working by plugging the chair into an alternate wall plug. If the backrest and foot and calf massaging components don't move when the power to the chair is switched back on, proceed to the next step.

  2. Locate the power panel on the chair. Turn the power switch off and unplug the chair from the wall socket. Open the fuse compartment on the power panel and turn the left-hand AC fuse holder knob counterclockwise to remove it.

  3. Replace the fuse with a new one of the same value. Reinsert the fuse holder into the power panel and turn it clockwise until it is secure. Plug the chair back into the wall and turn on the power switch. If there is still no power, the chair base and backrest may need to be replaced.

  4. Replace the fuse on the right side of the power panel box in the same manner as you did the AC fuse, if the convenience outlet is not working. Make certain that the power is off at both the chair and the wall outlet. If the problem persists, the power panel will need to be replaced.

Heat Controls Not Working

  1. Turn on the chair's power switch. Press the heat button on the remote and wait five minutes.

  2. Feel the left and right sides of the backrest for warmth.

  3. Find an authorized dealer in your area to replace the backrest. Parts can be ordered separately and replaced by the owner or the dealer, with the exception of the air pump, which must be replaced by the dealer.

Massage Functions Not Working

  1. Replace the backrest if the massage feature is not working or works on only one side. If the seat massage doesn't work, replace the air pump or the chair base. The air pump must be replaced by an authorized dealer.

  2. Listen closely to the chair when you press a massage-function button on the remote. You should hear the air pump inflating the chair. If you hear the pump running softly but no inflation is taking place, check the air-tubing connection. Remove the tubing at the back of the left-hand armrest to make sure the connection is secure. If the plastic end is broken off, the tubing will need to be replaced.

  3. Pull outward on the left-hand side panel to pull it away from the chair if the pump is running loudly. Check to see whether the hose tube has detached from the pump fitting. Reattach the tubing and secure it with a zip tie.

  4. Listen for sounds of the motor. If you can't hear the motor, the chair base or the pump may need to be replaced.

Remote Functions

  1. Make certain the cable connection to the backrest is in place and securely fastened. If the connection is secure but the remote still won't work, the remote needs to be replaced.

  2. Check the LED lights on the remote. If the lights function on the remote but the features are not working, it's most likely due to a fault of the function rather than the remote.

  3. Make sure there is nothing pressing on the safety sensor if the remote beeps twice. Tap the sensor with your foot. The rear shroud will need to be replaced if the problem persists.

Foot and Calf Massaging Unit

  1. Have the foot and calf massaging unit replaced if it is not working or if it works on only one side.

  2. Have the foot and calf actuator replaced if it won't raise and lower. If the problem persists, the chair base may need to be replaced.

  3. Press and hold the width buttons on the foot and calf massaging unit. These buttons allow for small changes in width and are not always noticed. If the LEDs don't light, press and hold the minus button until it reaches the narrowest setting. Then press and hold the plus button until it reaches the widest setting. Verify that the LEDs are now working. If not, the foot and calf massaging components need replacing. See your authorized dealer for replacement parts.
