How to Make Paper Calla Lilies

Calla lilies feature a single petal curled into a cup-shaped tube. The back of the cup tapers off into an elegant point, while the front of the cup overlaps itself in a delicate V. A yellow pistil pokes up from the center of the flower in a pointed wand shape. These simple, elegant flowers make lovely additions to flower arrangements and bouquets. If you don't have the time or budget to put together a real flower arrangement, or if you want a lasting arrangement, try folding a bouquet of these flowers from paper. The recipient will appreciate your efforts.

Calla lilies add elegance to a flower arrangement or centerpiece.

Step 1

Turn your paper square so one of the corners points toward you; the square should now look like a diamond shape.

Step 2

Fold the lower right side of the diamond inward toward the center. Repeat on the left side. The lower left and right sides of the diamond should meet in the center of the diamond. Your diamond should now have a short, wide top half and a long, thin bottom half.

Step 3

Fold the last 2 inches of the right edge of the narrow end of your diamond in toward the center. Repeat on the left. Only crease either of these folds up 2 inches from the bottom point; otherwise your flower won't fold properly.

Step 4

Fold the narrow tip of your diamond up so it lands about 1 inch below the top, wide tip. Place your finger on this newest fold.

Step 5

Wrap the right and left sides of the paper around your finger to create a tube. Hold the paper in place as you remove your finger from the tube. Fold the end of the tube up to secure it in place. You should see the typical calla lily point at the back of the tube and the beginnings of the V at the front.

Step 6

Fold the right and left sides of the front V down toward the inside of the flower. This completes the rounded opening and should allow you to see the narrow point against the back of the tube. Pull this narrow point forward; it is the flower's pistil.

Step 7

Paint the pistil yellow with acrylic paint and a narrow brush. Allow the paint to dry for at least 2 hours.
