How to Remove Odors From a Sofa
The sofa is a piece of furniture that accumulates odors at times, especially when pets are in the home or when you eat snacks and meals on the sofa. To get rid of the odors, you must stay away from cleaning techniques that use excess moisture, since the moisture absorbs into the sofa padding and can lead to mildew growth.
Vacuum your sofa to collect all loose crumbs and dirt particles. Remember to remove the cushions and vacuum along seams and creases as well.
Sprinkle a light layer of baking soda over your sofa, again remembering to get into crevices and cushions. Let the baking soda sit for about one hour or overnight if the sofa has strong odor.
Vacuum your sofa again to remove all of the baking soda residue.
Pour approximately 2 cups white vinegar into a spray bottle.
Mist the entire sofa with the vinegar, covering all areas with a light spraying of the vinegar. Remove cushions, and allow them to air dry separately so no moisture gets trapped between the cushions and sofa base. Repeat as needed if any odor remains.
