My Maytag Clothes Washer Does Not Spin Clothes Dry

Maytag clothes washers vary in size and finish and are available with a wide spectrum of options, from standard temperature and spin cycles to stain, fabric and energy sensors.

While most Maytag washers perform well with standard care and maintenance, problems may arise with the washing machine despite the best efforts of the user. One such problem is if the washer does not spin clothes dry at the end of the cycle. This issue may be resolved through troubleshooting.

Select a new cycle if a "Delicate," "Low," "No Spin" or "Hand Wash" cycle was previously selected. These cycles use a very low spin speed or no spin at all. The washing machine does not spin or agitate with the door open.

Open the washer door and add items if the load is very small or if only one large item such as a blanket was placed in the washer. Unbalanced or small loads may result in poor spin cycles or water remaining in the washing machine. Balance out the items inside the tub prior to starting a new cycle.

Use only the recommended amount of laundry detergent and use high-efficiency (HE) laundry detergent in Maytag washers that are energy efficient. Overuse of detergent or incorrect detergent may cause excess suds, which leave the loads very wet.

Straighten out the drain hose and check for possible obstructions in the drain hose or drainpipe. Ensure the drain pipe is not lifted more than 96 inches off the floor, as this sends water back into the machine.

Contact a Maytag service center for additional assistance if the problem persists.
