How to Get an RTH7600D Off Permanent Hold

Jon Stefansson

The Honeywell RTH7600D thermostat lets you adjust your home heating and cooling system from a discrete wall-mounted panel. The device features a “permanent hold” function that maintains the temperature in your home 24 hours a day, controlling either the heating or air conditioning system as needed.

Taking the RTH7600D off permanent hold mode lets you set new temperatures or make other changes to the climate control. Canceling permanent hold takes a few seconds using the control panel.

  1. Examine the various options available on the display. The temperature up and down arrows are on the right, and three option buttons appear along the bottom of the screen.

  2. Press "Use Schedule," which is the middle of the three option buttons, when permanent hold is active. The "Permanent Hold" icon disappears from the screen.

  3. Make adjustments to the temperature using the arrow buttons, or program a normal heating or cooling schedule following the directions in the owner's manual.
