How to Adjust a Snowblower Chute Cable
Snow blower discharge chutes direct snow to the area of your choosing. When you change the direction of the snow blower, you may also want to change the chute position. The cable-operated chute deflector is located at the top of the chute and is preset by the manufacturer.
Over time, the chute cable may require an adjustment to operate at peak efficiency. You can adjust the chute cable in 15 minutes with basic mechanical ability and the proper tool.
-
Locate the chute deflector cable mounting bracket on the discharge chute.
-
Turn the two nuts at the chute cable mount counterclockwise until loose. The nuts should not be removed. The nuts need only be loose enough to move the cable.
-
Adjust the cable mount nuts so the cable end moves up closer to the discharge deflector if you want to raise the discharge chute.
-
Adjust the cable mount nuts downward from the discharge deflector to lower the discharge chute.
-
Tighten the nuts clockwise to secure the chute cable to the mounting bracket.
