How to Clean an Air Pot
An Air Pot is a beverage dispenser that keeps the liquids stored in it hot. The Air Pot uses air and a pumping action to dispense its liquids. Air Pots are vacuum sealed, with an exterior housing and a thermal liner that is designed to retain heat.
The pot doesn't require a lot of cleaning; typically, you only need to remove beverage stains, debris and mineral deposits that can build up on the pot over time.
Things You Will Need
- Sponge glass and bottle cleaner with handle
- Distilled white vinegar
- Mild dish detergent
- Lint-free microfiber cloths
Warning
Harsh abrasive cleaners and tools or chemicals will damage your Air Pot.
-
Turn off and unplug your Air Pot. If you don’t have an electric Air Pot or an Air Pot with a power button, continue with the rest of the process.
-
Take the container to a sink and open the lid. Pour out any liquid still inside and set aside the pot to cool.
-
Rinse the inner lining with hot water. Rub the lining with a sponge-head bottle cleaner to remove any loose debris or mineral deposits. Rinse again.
-
Fill the dispenser with hot water and two or three drops of mild dish detergent. Wait 10 minutes and rub the interior with the sponge-head cleaner. Rinse the dispenser and sponge-head thoroughly to remove all detergent residues.
-
Refill your Air Pot with hot water and 2 tbsp. vinegar to de-scale it at least once a month or if you see any mineral deposits. Soak for 1 hour.
-
Close the lid and dispense some of the solution out of the spout to clear it of any buildup and then re-open the lid. Rub the interior again with the sponge-head cleaner. When finished, pour out the water and rinse the interior again.
-
Pour fresh hot water into the container, close the lid and dispense the water out the spout to rinse the spout of all traces of vinegar. Pour out the water.
-
Wipe the lid and exterior of the dispenser with a slightly damp, lint-free microfiber cloth and then wipe it dry with a cloth. If the exterior has stains, add one or two drops of mild detergent to the cloth and wipe the exterior. Rinse with another cloth and then wipe dry.
