Open the remote by pulling apart the seam holding both pieces together. Use a flat-head screwdriver if you are having trouble pulling it apart with your hands.
Remove the silver battery from the remote.
Slide a new battery into the remote with the rounded-side facing upward. Most remotes take a 2032 battery, but not all. Consult your owner's manual for the precise battery. Snap the two pieces back together.
Place a ladder underneath the rear section of the opener. Place the remote in your pocket. Climb the ladder. Open the opener's back door. Pull the remote out of your pocket.
Press the square "Smart" button inside the opener. Press the open button on the remote. This synchronizes the code between the opener and remote. If there is a light attached to the opener, the light will blink.
Things You Will Need
- Flat-head screwdriver
- New battery
- If you have trouble balancing on the ladder while pressing the remote's open button, have someone else press the button from the ground while you press the "Smart" button.
