Magic Chef Microwave Troubleshooting

Chad Buleen

Magic Chef microwaves do not typically have all of the features that other microwaves might have, however if you simply need a microwave that is able to heat up your food, a Magic Chef microwave should be sufficient. These microwaves also are fairly simple to troubleshoot.

  1. Check to make sure the microwave's power cord is firmly plugged into the wall outlet. Plug another appliance into the wall outlet to see if the appliance works. If the microwave still has no power, try plugging it into a different outlet altogether.

  2. Open the microwave door and firmly close it if the microwave is not cooking. A door that is not closed and latched will not allow the microwave to work properly.

  3. Press the "Start" button after you enter the cook time. Failing to press "Start" will mean that the food will not cook.

  4. Check the breaker box to make sure the switch that controls kitchen appliances is not switched to "Off." If it is in the "Off" position, slide it to the "On" position.

  5. Remove any metal containers or silverware from the microwave if sparks appear while you use the appliance. Also make sure that metal foil does not touch the walls. Metal in the microwave could create sparks or a fire.
