Stretch the tape measure across the glass width of one of the French doors. If you want the blinds to cover the glass portion only, add 1 inch to the measurement and jot it down. This provides extra coverage for privacy and installation of the blinds. Check to ensure that adding an inch to the width does not interfere with the doorknob or lock.
Use the tape measure to calculate the length of the glass portion of the French door. Add 3 or 4 inches to the length measurement and write it down.
Take the measurements with you when you order the blinds for your French doors.
Things You Will Need
- Measuring tape
- Pen and paper
- Order outside mount blinds for your french doors. This means they fit onto the outside section of the door instead of in a recessed area.
- Order the tilt and lift controls so that they are on the side of the door next to the hinges. This prevents them getting in the way when you are using the doorknob. It also prevents them from being broken by getting in the way of opening or closing the door.
- Measure from the outside edges of any raised molding around the glass if this is the style of French door you have.
