Instructions for the Genie Perfect Stop

The Perfect Stop is a garage door opener manufactured by Genie.
The Perfect Stop can be either controlled by a wall switch or by a hand-held remote control, and features a Safe-T-Stop contact reversing system, a manual emergency release and a relay monitoring system. While installation of the Genie garage door opener should be left up to a licensed electrician, once the system is installed, the you should read the owner's manual so you can begin using the opener right away.

Step 1

Place the stepladder beneath the power head of the opener and climb up so you can reach the Perfect Stop power head.

Step 2

Locate the two force control knobs on the power head and turn both of them counterclockwise until they cannot move any more.

Step 3

Check to make sure the emergency release lever is in the "disengaged" position and then manually shut the garage door.

Step 4

Loosen the set screw using a screwdriver and slide the limit switch to the desired position on the opener's rail. When it is in place tighten the set screw using the screwdriver.

Step 5

Use the screwdriver or a coin to open the battery holder on the back of the Genie remote control.

Step 6

Place an A-23, 12-volt battery into the remote and replace the remote battery door.

Step 7

Hold and then release the learn code button on the power head until the LED blinks. Within thirty seconds, push the remote button once and the LED will stop blinking and stay lit. Press the remote button one more time and the LED will blink off. This will program the remote.
