How to Reset the Genie Excelerator Remote Access

Kenneth Crawford

The Genie Excelerator garage door opener uses portable remote controls to open and close the door from your vehicle. When you have multiple people using the garage, it is necessary to have several remotes. When one of the remotes gets lost, it is a good idea to reset the Genie Excelerator remote access. Resetting the remote access helps keep your garage secure should someone outside your home find the old remote. Resetting the remote access on the Genie Excelerator is much like any other brand of garage door opener with rolling code technology.

Step 1

Set up a stepladder under the rear of the Excelerator motor. Locate the terminal block on the back of the motor assembly. The terminal block is the area where the wires for the push button and safety sensors connect to the motor. The two force adjustment screws are to the left of the terminal block. In between the terminal block and the force adjustment screw is the remote “Learn” button.

Step 2

Press and hold the “Learn” button. The LED light below the button will illuminate. When the light turns off, all codes are erased from the opener and it is ready for reset. Release the “Learn” button.

Step 3

Tap the “Learn” button with your finger. The LED light will blink.

Step 4

Press and release the button on the remote control. The LED will stay illuminated. Press and release the remote control button once more, and the LED light turns off. The Excelerator remote is now reset.

Step 5

Repeat this programming for each remote control.
