How to Adjust a Kenmore Oven Door
Kenmore ranges and ovens are available in gas and electric models. A range differs from an oven in that it includes both an oven and stove, while an oven does not include a stove. Kenmore oven doors pull down and lay flat when opened completely.
Occasionally, the oven door may come off the hinge, making it difficult to open or close. If your oven door requires adjustment, you can remove it from the oven, then reinstall it.
-
Turn off the oven breaker in your fuse box. The oven must be completely cool.
-
Open the oven door completely.
-
Remove the two screws located beside each of the hinges on the bottom of the door, using a screwdriver.
-
Screw the screws into the screw holes on the door hinge. There is only one hole in which the screws will fit on each hinge.
-
Close the oven door as far as it will go, which is about 45 degrees.
-
Grasp the sides of the oven door, then pull up on the door and off the hinges. Do not grab the door by the handle as it could break.
-
Examine the door hinges to determine if any debris are causing the door malfunction. Clean as needed.
-
Reinstall the door by inserting the hinge arms back onto the hinges while holding the door at a 45-degree angle. Lower the door onto the hinges after the hooks clear the hinges.
-
Open the door fully, then remove the screws from the hinges and screw them back into the door.
-
Close the door to complete the adjustment.
