How to Remove Burn Marks

Many circumstances can lead to burn marks on counters, walls, ceilings or other surfaces. Leaving a curling iron on, placing a burning pot on a counter or letting a candle holder overheat are just a few examples on incidents that lead to burn marks.

If you'll clean burn marks immediately, you might not have to resort to painting over the marks. Particular products and tools can be used to effectively remove the burn marks.

  1. Sprinkle baking soda on the burn marks.

  2. Add a small amount of water to form a paste with the baking soda.

  3. Let the mixture sit on the burn mark for an hour.

  4. Rub the solution in with a stiff brush.

  5. Place an antacid tablet on top of any burn marks that are still present after Step 4. Pour 1/2 cup water on top of the antacid and let it bubble up on the burn marks.

  6. Scrub at the area with a damp cloth.
