How to Troubleshoot a Bosch Microwave

Meredith Jameson

The Bosch Corporation makes a wide variety of products for commercial and residential use, including appliances for the kitchen and laundry room such as ranges, refrigerators, warming drawers, washers and dryers, and microwaves. Bosch microwaves are available in several different sizes and styles and offer different features such as convection cooking, and variable time and temperature control. Troubleshooting a Bosch microwave can help you possibly identify the cause of -- and fix -- the problem.

Step 1

Ensure the Bosch microwave is firmly connected to a power supply, if the microwave will not turn on or function. Reset the circuit breaker or fuse if necessary.

Step 2

Unplug the microwave from the power supply, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back into the power supply, if the microwave is not operating properly or the power goes off before the desired cooking process has completed.

Step 3

Open and close the microwave oven door firmly if the microwave turns on but does not cook. Press the "Start" button after selecting the desired program. Press "Pause/Stop" if a program has already been selected or was not selected correctly. Select a new program and then "Start".

Step 4

Remove the ceramic tray and the roller ring if the tray is wobbly or off-center during use. Wipe both with a clean, damp cloth and reset into the microwave.

Step 5

Press "Settings" followed by the number "5" if none of the program keys appear to be working. The "Child Lock" feature was likely activated, preventing use of the microwave. Press "Settings" and the number "5" again to reactivate the child lock.

Step 6

Contact an authorized service technician if the above steps do not resolve the problem.
