How to Cure a Copper Caso

Kim Blakesley

A copper caso is a large cooper pot used to cook alkaline foods such as meat, pasta and high-sugar foods. Acidic foods such as fruits, tomatoes, salad dressings and vinegar containing foods should not be cooked in a copper caso due to the toxic chemical reaction between the copper and the acid in the food. Cure a copper caso before the first usage and after each cooking session with a coating of vegetable oil.
