How to Shrink Confectionery Wrappers in the Oven

One of the most important items in any kitchen, ovens can do more than simply provide the means for producing delicious food day-in and day-out: they can also be a source of mild entertainment, with even the most disposable and common of items.

The entertainment, however, only lasts as long as all the appropriate precautions are taken.

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).

Grab ahold of one wrapper securely in a pair of tongs.

Open the oven door, and extend the confectionery wrapper into the oven with the tongs.

Keep a watchful eye, as the wrappers shrink rapidly.

Remove the tongs and wrapper from the oven a split second before they achieve your desired size. Even outside the oven, the wrapper will continue to shrink for a moment.

Tip

  • This procedure might be more easily and safely performed with a microwave.

Warning

  • Try not to touch the wrapper to anywhere inside the oven, lest it melt to the metal.
