Things You Will Need

  • All purpose cleaner
  • Paper towel
  • Bucket
  • Warm water
  • Liquid dish soap
  • Toothbrush
  • 2 cups lemon juice
  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 2 cups bleach
  • Vacuum

Washing machines have eliminated the need for women to stand by a stream and clean their family’s clothing against a rock. Many modern families rely on their Frigidaire washing machine to function properly on a daily basis. To ensure this occurs, the machine will require a cleaning every few weeks. The dirt and grit on clothing that is removed by the machine can sometimes remain inside the tub and must be cleaned away by hand.

  1. Spray the front and sides of the Frigidaire washing machine with all-purpose cleaner and wipe it down with paper towel. This will make the overall appearance of the machine more pleasant.

  2. Remove the fabric softener dispenser and the bleach dispenser and place them into a bucket that contains warm water and several drops of liquid dish soap. Allow them to soak for several minutes and scrub the baskets with an old toothbrush to remove any built-up stains. Pull the baskets out and allow them to dry.

  3. Turn the machine on to the “large” load “hot” settings. Allow the machine to fill with the hot water. While this is occurring, pour two cups of lemon juice and two cups of vinegar into the machine. This will help remove any rust stains or musty odor from the machine.

  4. Allow the machine to run thorough.

  5. Keep the machine on the “large” load and “hot” setting and once again allow it to fill with hot water, except this time add two cups of bleach and allow the machine to run through the cycle.

  6. Place the baskets back into the machine.

  7. Pull the machine out from the wall and vacuum behind the machine. Take this time to ensure that all of the hoses are properly secured to the machine.

  8. Push the machine back to its original position and use it as desired.
