To get a hummingbird out of a house can seem like a daunting task, but it can be done with a little common sense and a lot of fabric.  The biggest danger to a hummingbird flying through a house are the windows.

The hummingbird will instinctively look for a way out and head for the windows, but if the windows are closed, the bird could crash into the glass and die on impact.  The safest way to get the bird out of the home is out a door.

  1. Open any door that leads to the outdoors.
  2. Cover all windows with light-blocking fabric.
  3. Turn off all lights.
  4. Watch as the bird instinctively flies toward the light and as soon as it is safely outside, shut the door.
  5. Remove all light blocking fabric.
