How to Replace Belts on a Bissell PowerSteamer PowerBrush
The Bissell PowerSteamer can save you a lot of money on carpet care. Instead of paying a company to steam clean your carpet, you can do it at home. The PowerSteamer, like most appliances, requires maintenance and repairs. The most commons repair with home steam cleaners and vacuums are the belts. The PowerSteamer has two belts. One is used to pump and spray the cleaning solution, and the other is used to scrub the carpet (brush roll).
-
Turn your Bissell off and unplug the cord from the power outlet. Step on the handle adjustment switch and lower the handle to the floor.
-
Remove the water reservoir and set it aside. Insert a flat head screwdriver into the belt door near the attachment switch. Pry the belt door up, remove it and set it aside.
-
Turn the steamer on its side, with the belt door access point facing the ceiling. Locate the red access plate on the bottom of the machine. Remove the screws with a Phillips screwdriver and take the plate off.
-
Remove the black control arm attached to the brush. Set the arm aside. Slide the brush belt off to access the pump belt.
-
Remove the pump belt. Slide the new pump belt around the silver motor shaft and the red pulley.
-
Install the new brush belt around the pulley and the brush. Replace the black control arm, the red access plate and the belt door.
Tips
- The brush belt must be removed to access the pump belt. You'll need to remove the brush belt first, if you need to replace the pump belt.
