How to Empty the Bin on a Dyson DC14
The DC14, a discontinued model of the Dyson bagless vacuum cleaner line, uses Dyson's patented Root Cyclone technology to create a powerful centrifugal force that sucks and spin dust and debris right out of your carpet. The debris gets deposited into the vacuum cleaner's clear plastic bin on the outside of the unit. You can see into the bin, which lets you know when it reaches capacity and and needs to be emptied.
Empty the Bin Into a Trash Can
-
Turn your DC14 off and unplug it from the electrical outlet.
-
Locate the release catch at the top of the bin on the machine's carrying handle.
-
Slide the release toward the machine with your thumb, while simultaneously pulling the bin toward you and away from the machine
-
Carry the bin to a trash can or other container where you can discard its contents.
-
Pull the trigger to release the bottom of the bin. The trigger is located on the inside of the handle. The contents of the bin will spill out of the bottom. Tap the sides of the bin to remove any leftover debris.
-
Push the bottom of the bin back into place and put the bin back on the DC14 vacuum cleaner.
Empty the Bin Into a Plastic Bag
-
Turn your DC14 off and unplug it from the electrical outlet.
-
Locate the release catch at the top of the bin on the machine's carrying handle.
-
Slide the release toward the machine with your thumb, while simultaneously pulling the bin toward you and away from the machine.
-
Wipe the outside of the bin with a damp towel.
-
Place the bin into a large plastic bag. Keep one hand on the trigger, located on the inside of the bin handle. Close the bag around the bin and your hand as much as possible to minimize debris from escaping into the air.
-
Pull the trigger and allow the debris to fall out from the bottom of the bin. Tap the sides of the bin to remove any leftover debris. Wait two minutes for the debris to settle before opening the bag.
-
Close the bin's bottom while it is still in the bag by pushing it up with the hand you kept in the bag during the emptying process.
-
Remove the bin carefully from the bag. Close the bag and throw it out. Put the bin back into place on the DC14 vacuum cleaner.
