How to Reprogram a Genie Garage Door Keypad
Reprogramming a Genie garage door keypad is a simple process that should not take longer than a few minutes to complete successfully. Genie garage door keypads enable you and members of your friends and family to access entry into your home without using a key on a traditional door. If you find yourself in a situation where you feel you need to reprogram your garage door keypad code so that only certain people can access it, the process to do so is quite simple with the proper instructions.
Slide the protective cover of the keypad halfway up so that half of the numbers are exposed. Press the "#" and "8" keys simultaneously and slide the rest of the protective cover up until it latches. The keypad should remain lit and signal that the reprogramming process has begun.
Press the "3", "5", "7" and "#" keys into the keypad in that exact order. Once that sequence has been punched in, enter your desired password and press the "#" button. The password can be created for up to eight digits. Choose a code that you will easily remember but will not be easy to discern for those that are not welcome to enter.
Enter the door code by pressing the "Up" arrow on the keypad three consecutive times followed by the "star" key. Slide the keypad down. To test the code, slide the keypad up and enter in the code that you chose for the door. If it opens, the reprogramming process is complete.
